Biesse Helps Transform Landmark Finish's Business In New England

Biesse machinery and solutions have played an integral part in Landmark’s growth as a company since the partnership began in 2013 with the purchase of a Skill CNC Router. Working with Biesse Product Area Manager Jim Murphy, the company added an Akron 1330 CNC edgebander and return conveyor to the production mix last year.

Landmark Finish Owners Stewart and Deanna Junge view it as the most recent example of their company’s commitment to provide top-level craftsmanship to an expanding client base. The Junges operate in a region where finding qualified candidates remains a constant challenge.

It has been an interesting experience adapting to the current labor market,” Deanna said. “We chose to automate our shop with a Biesse CNC router a few years ago. It has not only transformed how we do our work, it also helped us diversify our operations. In addition to making cabinets and countertops for direct clients, we help other shops throughout New England that either struggle with labor challenges or just need CNC machining.” Automation has helped Landmark assume a leading role in helping other companies in the area. It all began with the Skill CNC five years ago and that machine continues to be a stalwart in production, allowing Landmark to perform a wide range of processing including sheet goods, solid wood and acrylic solid surface. “The Skill’s nesting technology allows for fast, precise cutting of sheet goods such as melamime, plastic laminate and acrylic solid surface. We also cut solid wood to make our own stile and rail doors. The large 5’ x 12’ table enables us to process oversized sheet goods to optimize the use of materials and allow for less seams in our cabinetry and countertops,” said Stewart. Deanna added, “The CNC is at the core of our manufacturing process and our go-to piece of equipment.

"The edgebander and return conveyor are creating new efficiencies in the production process, allowing us to take on more work. Other cabinet and custom closet shops throughout New England now see us as a reliable source for outsourcing the CNC machining and edgebanding of their parts."
